Yesterday, it was established that real parents define parenting as a responsibility and not just as a title, meaning that parenting comes with commitment or with a price that must be paid for it to be successful or take it full course.
With years of experience in my profession, I have seen many people become parents for a lot of wrong reasons. Some see parenting as a social norm, while others see it as a weapon for marital attention, just as Lea does in today’s Bible text.
Also, some other people are into parenting to gather wealth from their love-victim, and some others make money from their children through child marriage, child prostitution, money-ritual, and child labor, while others become baby mama and baby daddy for social respect. Parenting should not be a trade by barter because it is far beyond the social norm. I want to believe that Bathsheba saw parenting as a calling from God or a ministry to be fulfilled rather than just a social norm and more reason she is a referenced mother, even till date.
