In getting your marital conviction clearly, you need to first come to the knowledge of who God is to you, then the knowledge of who you are (revise January’s Series for more details on this), then your life mission is a very important guide, while you will also need to know what God says about who you should marry; all these factors played out in Isaac and Rebecca’s relationship.

Isaac and Rebecca’s love relationship was covered by God from the onset, and the marital conviction was established even before the marital proposal was made and other marital rights were performed, yet the two were without children for 20 years of their marriage, but their commitment to one another never dandled.

Don’t be the only one who is convinced about your marital relationship; give your intending spouse enough time to get the same conviction to journey with you forever, and neither should you be manipulated into a marital relationship by the conviction of your intending partner.

All marital relationships will experience a dual season of highs and lows—the good and the bad times. What keeps you going when the going gets tough is your conviction.

Just as Jesus emphatically says today in our text that continuous obedience is fundamental to building continuous friendship with him, hence, for commitment to be continuous in your marital relationship, there are certain conditions that must be fulfilled

The fact that you understand what commitment is and laid the right foundation to stir it in your marital relationship might not be enough to make commitment consistent or natural to your marital relationship.

Knowing that one has the major role to play was mind-blowing and this has helped adjust the mindset of many who were in attendance, to focus on getting committed to themselves in order to be able to show commitment to their partners.

When the foundation of a marital relationship is wrongly laid, commitment will be difficult to easily come by and frustration, violence and abuse of all kinds will be inevitable.

When you engage in healthy self-esteem in your marital relationship, it will naturally stir commitment from your spouse towards you.

Being disrespectful to your spouse includes; being entitled to your opinion alone without allowing influence or input from your spouse.
